Position Summary
The Solutions Architect is a strategic, client-facing role responsible for designing and implementing scalable, secure, and cost-effective IT solutions that align with business objectives. Acting as a trusted advisor, this role bridges the gap between technical execution and business needs, ensuring solutions in cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and automation deliver measurable value.
Reporting to the VP of Service Delivery, the Solutions Architect collaborates with Sales, Project Management, and Technical Operations to lead solution design, technical advisory, and project oversight from pre-sales through implementation. With expertise in Azure and AWS Cloud Adoption Frameworks (CAF), this role ensures structured and efficient cloud migrations, infrastructure modernization, and security compliance.
This role also plays a key part in innovation initiatives, defining technical standards, evaluating emerging technologies, and refining best practices to enhance service delivery. By maintaining client engagement, technical escalation leadership, and driving new opportunities, the Solutions Architect contributes significantly to organizational growth and operational excellence.
Roles and Responsibilities
Solution Design and Architecture
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams to understand business objectives and technical requirements.
- Design tailored IT solutions including cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, managed IT services, and automation.
- Develop architectural diagrams, documentation, and proof-of-concept models.
- Ensure solutions are scalable, cost-optimized, and secure.
- Lead discussions on cloud migrations and hybrid IT strategies.
- Apply Azure and AWS Cloud Adoption Frameworks (CAF) appropriately.
Strategic Technical Advisory & SME Leadership
- Act as a trusted advisor in cybersecurity, cloud platforms, and automation.
- Provide guidance on compliance frameworks (NIST, CIS, ISO 27001).
- Lead technical assessments and roadmap development.
- Stay current with technology trends and recommend emerging tools.
Pre-Sales, SOW Development & Opportunity Identification
- Collaborate with Sales and Project Teams on pre-sales solutions and proposals.
- Identify new project opportunities through client interactions.
- Define and enforce Statement of Work (SOW) boundaries.
- Create new SOWs to generate project revenue.
Project & Implementation Leadership
- Serve as technical lead on complex projects.
- Oversee transition from pre-sales to service delivery.
- Ensure timely and budget-compliant project delivery.
- Identify and mitigate project risks.
Process, Standards & Technology Optimization
- Define and enforce technical standards and best practices.
- Optimize PSA, RMM, and automation tools.
- Drive operational improvements through automation.
- Document new best practices quarterly.
Technical Escalation, Client Engagement & Advisory
- Act as a technical escalation point for complex issues.
- Maintain active client relationships and strategic advisory roles.
- Identify client needs and drive technical engagements.
Stakeholder Communication & Reporting
- Provide clear communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct regular project updates.
- Ensure completion of technical documentation and reporting.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Experience: 5+ years in solution design or IT architecture, preferably in an MSP or consulting environment.
- Certifications:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate (or Professional)
- Optional: CISSP or other advanced cybersecurity certifications
