Position Summary
The Level 3 Project Engineer is a senior technical resource responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting complex IT projects in a managed services environment. This role serves as both a technical authority and project lead, owning delivery from planning through execution while ensuring systems are secure, scalable, and aligned with client business objectives.
This position is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in project-based work, enjoys solving advanced technical challenges, and can communicate effectively with both technical teams and executive-level stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Technical Leadership

Lead medium to large-scale IT projects including cloud migrations, infrastructure upgrades, security implementations, and network redesigns.

Participate in technical scoping, solution design, and pre-sales discussions as needed.

Own project execution from kickoff through completion, ensuring timelines, scope, and quality standards are met.
Advanced Engineering & Escalation

Serve as a senior escalation point for complex issues beyond Level 1 and Level 2 support.

Troubleshoot and resolve advanced infrastructure, cloud, networking, and security incidents.

Perform root-cause analysis and implement long-term corrective solutions.
Architecture & Solution Design

Design and implement solutions across:

Microsoft 365, Entra ID (Azure AD), and hybrid environments
-
Cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS)
-
Virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V)
-
Networking (firewalls, VPNs, routing, switching)
-
Security tooling (EDR/MDR, email security, MFA, vulnerability management)

Ensure designs follow best practices for performance, security, and scalability.
Documentation & Standards

Create and maintain detailed project documentation, network diagrams, and system architecture.

Contribute to SOPs, standards, and knowledge base improvements.

Ensure consistency and repeatability across project deployments.
Mentorship & Collaboration

Mentor and support Level 1 and Level 2 engineers.

Provide guidance on troubleshooting methodology and technical growth.

Collaborate with service desk, account management, and leadership teams.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Experience
-
5+ years of hands-on IT experience, preferably within an MSP or consulting environment.

Strong expertise in:

Microsoft 365 administration and identity management

Windows Server and Active Directory

Cloud and hybrid infrastructure

Networking fundamentals and firewall management

Security best practices and tooling

Experience with scripting or automation (PowerShell preferred).

Proven ability to lead and deliver technical projects with multiple stakeholders.
